LIKE MOTHER LIKE DAUGHTER
We are both obsessed with home decor. Our styles are a little different but we always depend on each other for advice and opinions. Abby’s California style is chic and modern and Sandy’s Texas style is more traditional, earthy, and even sometimes a little grandma-ish (hey, if the shoe fits…). A phrase we love and jokingly use to describe our style is “It’s Not Done Till It’s Overdone”. We are not “everything white and neutral” kind of girls We love color, texture, drama, and whimsy. Less is more doesn’t run true with us. We started with an Instagram page a few years ago and our son/brother Jonathan bought the domain name and encouraged us to start a blog. We agreed and thought sharing some of our ideas in more detail would be fun.
ABBY
Since I was a little girl, I always wanted to be a mom. I wanted to dedicate my life to my family and my home, just like my mom did. I graduated from Baylor University in 2007 and began teaching Home Economics. A year later, I met my future husband Brendan at a wedding. He was a very handsome police officer from California. After a year of dating long distance, we became engaged and this Texas girl moved to California. After two years of marriage, my son Tate was born and it was then that I decided to quit teaching and stay at home with him full time. That’s when my love for home decor started to flourish. Three and a half years later my daughter Baylor was born. We currently live in Discovery Bay, California and my dream of being a stay-at-home mom and dedicating myself to my family and home has come true.

When people ask what I do, or did, I proudly tell them that I am a retired full-time stay-at-home mom. My solitary goal in life was to stay home and take care of my husband, children, and home, just like my mom did. Although I did work for ten years, my hard-working husband made it possible for me to eventually retire in 1982. I was born and raised in Texas City, Texas. I have also lived in Houston and St. Charles, Illinois. For the past 25 years, I have lived in Tyler, Texas. My husband, whom I refer to as Jerry T, is my partner in life and we have been married for 44 years. I have three children, Melinda – my partner in beauty, Jonathan – my partner in technology, and Abby – my partner in home decor. I also have two granddaughters, Lani Shay and Baylor Jo and one grandson, Tate Jonathan. How lucky am I?
