Around May, 2019, after A LOT of thought and discussions, Jerry T and I decided that we wanted to remodel our 27 year old home. Actually it was all my idea, but I convinced him it was his idea too. And after reading this book, he was 100% on board. How do you even begin this process? I basically knew what I wanted to do, but I needed someone to bring it to life. Johnny’s Condo – 1st Floor – Airbnb Decorating DIY

Who knew that the last line of a blog that was written almost two years ago predicting a condo for my son Jonathan, would actually become reality. That’s called the Law of Attraction folks and I’m a believer. First, a little history. Johnny’s previous move was a little over three years ago. That home was a semi fixer-upper that you can read about here and also here.

He eventually decided the home was a little too big for him and would be better suited for a family. He had a contract nine days after the house went on the market but the final sale and closing seemed to take forever. Having been in the same house for 25 years, I’ve forgotten how long and drawn out that stuff gets. In the meantime, he found a three bedroom condo but just needed his house to close, to finalize the deal. Eventually, things fell into place and Johnny’s Condo became a reality. I became a mom at 20 years old, so I’ve had more Mother’s Days than most. When my kids were little, their Dad would do the Mother’s Day shopping. It was usually something small and sweet – nothing over top. As they got a little older, they would make a Mother’s Day craft or card at school. My kids would always get so excited about their homemade gifts. They could rarely keep them a secret until Mother’s Day. I miss those days. When they were in college, they would usually come home for the weekend with a card (and laundry) in tow. As we have all gotten older, I have told them “What your Mama really wants for Mother’s Day is just spending time together – no gifts”.

By now, if you received fresh flowers for Valentine’s Day, they are probably just a memory except for the container that they came in. Years ago, I told Jerry T “no more fresh flowers, just a potted plant instead”. It took him a few special occasions to put this into practice, but he eventually succumbed to my wishes. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE FRESH FLOWERS. But being the practical Virgo that I am, I hated seeing him spend all that money just to toss them in the trash a few days later.
