Have you ever changed or wanted to update a room, promising your husband that this will be the last house project for a while? Then you discover that your one changed room has now made you want to change another room, eventually leading to a whole house makeover? Or is that just me?! This is exactly what happened when I updated our living room and added a fun trim feature wall. I loved the wall so much but it honestly made me realize that the other rooms in close proximity (i.e. kitchen and dining room) now needed to be just as fabulous. A phone call to my trusty contractor would definitely fix this. So not long after I had my living room feature wall done by him, I called him to now discuss my dining room!
Since my living room was all about the trim, I thought it would be fun to go in that same direction in my dining room, but on my ceiling. So I searched Pinterest for several weeks and finally found a cool ceiling treatment I thought would look perfect. I had my contractor come over to give me a quote. Although he is VERY reasonable, his quote was still more than I wanted to pay. So I sat on it for a couple months, wondering if I should save or just go with a completely different idea. During this time, The Mama was deep in her Empty Nester Makeover which you can read all about here and she was sending me pictures every step of the way. When she had her wallpaper installed and sent me a pic, my mouth dropped to the floor! I could not believe what a drastic change the wallpaper made for this room and I was obsessed.
I then wanted to wallpaper EVERY SINGLE ROOM IN MY HOUSE and that’s when I realized, that is exactly what I will do to my dining room – I will add wallpaper to the ceiling instead of the pricey trim work. I absolutely love the paper. It’s from Anthropologie and you can click here to see it. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the way it turned out. I also decided to paint every wall in that room dark navy like the one accent wall I had. When we moved into our home 2-1/2 years ago, I wanted all the walls white. It’s funny because I swear every person I told I wanted white walls gave me the funniest looks, and of course now EVERYONE wants white walls in their homes. But I have to be honest, I got tired of the white, FAST! Yes, white walls are very pretty and clean but I love decorating boldy and dramatically and white walls everywhere just are not for me! If I could wallpaper every room in my house, I would!
I have an amazing wallpaper guy who is not only super reasonable but lives in my neighborhood and does amazing work! He worked on my dining room ceiling from 8 am in the morning to 8 pm at night and I swear he had a smile on his face the whole time. This is the same guy who wallpapered my bedroom wall and my son’s room which you can read all about here. He also wallpapered one other wall in my home which I will blog about soon. Slowly, but surely, I’m getting these white walls full of bold color and drama and I am just loving it! If you know me in real life, you know that my personality is bold, colorful and dramatic and I love that my home reflects this. I’ll end with this ya’ll. If you have been thinking of wallpapering in your home, GO FOR IT! Life is short and should be fun and interesting just like your wallpapered walls would be! GO FOR IT GIRL!

Gorgeous as always! You will probably laugh, but YEARS ago (and I do mean years…..probably at least 40) my parents bought an old house that was being used as a doctors office and renovated the entire house. My mom actually put fabric on the ceiling of one of the rooms. Looking back, it really was beautiful. I guess she was a trendsetter LOL! I’ll have to send you pics one day :))
